Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove, or “The Grove” as it is referred to by locals, has the small village quality that makes it the perfect setting for outdoor festivals and events.  Its most prominent of these is the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. Others include the King Mango Strut (which began as a parody of the Orange Bowl Parade), Taste of the Grove Food & Wine Festival, the Goombay Festival (which transforms Grand Avenue into a Caribbean Carnival celebrating Bahamian culture) and The Great Grove Bed Race (with homemade, themed beds on wheels rolling down the streets of the downtown area). There is also an old fashioned picnic on July 4th on the grounds of the Barnacle Historic State Park.  The Grove is also known for its varied restaurants and open air cafes. It’s a great place for strolling.
